CC’s Fraud

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

The best way to prevent against credit card fraud is to never give your card number out to anyone that you don’t know.

Most financial institutions warn their customers that they will not ask for your credit card information over the phone. This is because it is almost impossible to determine if the call is legitimate or not. Even with caller id you can be tricked, whatif the scam artist places the call from within the bank?

Besides, why would your bank need your credit card number? If they hold the credit card account they have it and if they don’t what possible transaction would require that information from you?

If the caller insists that you give them your number; simply hang up. Call your financial institution and speak with a manager. Since you have initiated the call you know for certain where that call is going . The manager will be able to tell you if the call was legitimate and the reasons for it. If it wasn’t a legitimate call it will put the bank on notice that someone is using their name to commit fraud and then they can alert other customers.

Keep your credit card information to yourself. Give it out only when you can positively id the party you are doing business with.

Manage Our debt

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Once you have let yourself accumulate debts, it is much harder to free yourself from that situation.

Dealing with the debts first: If you have any credit cards, cut them up because you will be tempted to buy more. Several debts need consolidating into one. Then you will incur one lot of interest charges instead of several.

To do this, go to the banks, and ask for the best personal loan, they can offer you with the least charges. Read the small print. Do not be afraid to ask at several of them. Get it in writing what they are offering. Ask for different opinions. With the decision made, let them organize payment of all the debts. Do not have the money put into your bank with the intension of paying them out your self, because you could be tempted again and you cannot afford that.

Payment of the loan: You can go two ways with this; organize a direct debit, then its automatically taken out of your account. This way you know it is paid. On the other hand, you can pay it manually, if you can trust yourself to make the payment on time.

Now you need to make a budget and stick to it:
You need to write down everything you have to pay for the whole year coming. This means everything right down to little incidentals, that you may forget. Kid’s birthday parties, dentist, pharmacy, school fees. Don’t forget the housing loan or rent, insurances etc. You will not know exactly how much but jot down a rough estimate, allow more to be of the safe side. Add this up.

Divide this total by 52 if paid weekly or by 12 if paid monthly. You will now have an idea as to how much your weekly or monthly expenses are. Bank this money into a savings account and only draw out the expenses as they become due. This way you will always have enough to pay your bills as they come in.

Before you go shopping, check out the specials, make a list of everything you need and stick to it, DO NOT, be tempted to buy extras. Where possible, buy extras of the specials if you will be saving on the overall article. When cooking, make enough for two nights and freeze one, do the same the next night, to change the flavor you could curry it or similar.

If you need extra money, why not make some type of craft. You could take this opportunity to clean out your cupboards and have a garage sale. Get rid of those things that you never use, and sell your crafts. Buy second hand, its amazing what a little coat of paint will do. Check out the other garage sales. If you are good at bartering, you could buy things at one and reselling to make a profit.

Make your house loan payment every week if possible, this will not only pay the loan quicker, but reduce it as well. Instead of spending your tax refund, pay it straight of your loan.

The only way to stay debt free is to work at it and pay cash for things. Do not use a credit card; that makes the banks richer.

More about Outsourcing

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

While outsourcing has received a lot of negative attention, particularly among displaced workers, there are positive aspects of outsourcing that should not be overlooked. These positive aspects could, in the long run, strengthen our economy rather than weaken it.

One of the first ways that outsourcing can benefit the US economy is because our current graduates are not meeting the demands of the workforce. While IT jobs, for instance, grow faster than the market average, our colleges and universities are not producing enough IT majors. Although there is grant money available, many students are not pursuing IT as a career path, and so we need to look elsewhere to fill the demand for positions. It is only natural that we look to nations like India, which are producing the skills that we are not producing.

Another reason is the changing face of the US workforce. In 1900, a mere 0.2% of the US population was over the age of 85; by 2050, that number is expected to grow to 5%. As these individuals age, there is a greater need for caregivers to care for the aging population, and many of the efforts of the US workforce will be directed to that end. Meanwhile, India has more people available in the workforce and fewer aging parents to care for.

Possibly the most compelling argument, however, is that outsourcing can help restore America’s manufacturing base. Over the years, we have seen manufacturing dwindle. A primary reason for this is that most Americans have the items they need to be comfortable (even while they might clamor for more). We’ve saturated the market, basically, with consumer goods and there is a limited market in which to sell our remaining stock.

Enter nations like India. The median income in the US is just short of 55 times that of India. While it has not changed entirely, outsourcing has begun to change that disparity, and newly “wealthy” Indian workers find themselves with money to spend on consumer goods. Because we have already established trade with their country, they are a natural market in which we can sell our goods.

I’m not going to tell you that outsourcing is a great thing. It isn’t, and many displaced American workers would agree with me. But when times change, we can either fight it or make the best of it, and since we lack the power to fight, we should make the best of it and find all of the potential advantages that outsourcing has to offer.

Top 3 Home Working Schemes to Avoid

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Whilst there are many good home working ideas available on the internet and many respectable schemes to choose from, there are a few scams to avoid. The most prolific of these fall into these 3 categories. But do not forget, any scheme that offers you a lot of money for very little effort in no time at all is probably either a scam or illegal. Here are three to be avoided.

1) Envelope Stuffing.

Here is a common, scam. You are offered envelope stuffing work, but have to pay a small amount to get started. You might have seen an advert on a search engine, or maybe an advert in the paper or even had a business card shoved onto your car windscreen.

Well, what does your payment get for you? Save yourself parting from your cash and read on. Most of these are probably going to tell you how to place a similar advert to catch other people out. They send you a payment and you send the same instructions to them in an envelope.

2) Home Assembly Jobs

Why would any company want to distribute expensive stock around the country, costing a lot in transport fees and risking losses? Simply because the products they are distributing are worthless, the people doing the job have already paid out to buy the product and no doubt the finished products will all fail quality control and the poor victim will either get nothing back or less than they paid.

So if you are offered home assembly jobs where the company asks you to buy the products first, have a doubt or two before parting with you cash.

3) Typing Jobs

Again, why would a company want to distribute its typing functions to people that it does not know? Probably because the work is simple. The typing is going to an affiliate scheme, maybe their affiliate scheme, then signing up for an AdSense account and typing up the necessary adverts.

All of this is quite simple and if you wanted to do it yourself you could realistically do it all yourself. Just do a few internet searches for suitable affiliate schemes and for basic instructions on how to set up efficient pay per click adverts.

If any work at home scheme that you are looking at is asking for you to part with cash upfront, then I would seriously think again. Search for the company name on the internet and ensure other people seem to have been paid out. And if you do fall for a scheme, do not be afraid of outing the company so others do not suffer the same fate.

Life Without Internet

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Doing research is enough to know no one can be entertained from people in distant places. Fascinated by the Internet people forget how unrealistic is the net. The web pages cannot replace subsequent roles humans do. These infer how people can use their time to enjoy home entertainments on by the computer. The Internet cannot exchange life when speculating pleasure with tasks done before connecting to the net. Obligating on when the Internet is available is a question. A media productions textbook gives the time and place web surfers have relied on pleasure to induct them into net connections.

Researches have grown the idea to look at the Internet as a natural object that guides every person to education. Educating others takes place on the net. This is reluctant because no one can give support to every item viewed on the net. The intra-net also contains responsible interacting with the web pages and ads by its users. Its degeneration of no ventures in the interests to ratify. Given dreams can’t come true as fast pace as those fulfilled by the Internet. Yet the Internet gives us time to fulill valued possessions and interactions. Living with no Internet cannot postpone labor and indulges us in the struggle to enact the same way over each year.

Time management strategies

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

The first step in learning how to effectively make use of your time is to do a personal analysis on how you are using your time. Then take the information and see how much of your time actually contributes to meeting specific goals you have. These goals should be in both your professional and personal life There is no doubt that it is very hard to find a balance between your professional life and your personal time. If you can incorporate your own values and the goals you have set for yourself, you can define the amount of energy and time you want to spend in each area.

Take your analysis and identify your most important priorities at work and in your personal life outside of work. Make a list of all activities that are important and urgent versus those that are important but not urgent. Then make a list of things that you have wasted time on and not achieved any goals. When you put this down on a piece of paper the results may surprise you. You will also be able to note areas where you are consistent and areas where you are not consistent.

After you have done your self analysis, create a professional and personal action plan on using your time wisely. This plan should mirror your personal values and goals you have set for yourself. Make time for those items on your list that are important and urgent first. This is the starting point of planning your time and getting it under control. The least important items should be at the bottom of your list. This is just a guideline because things are always changing. If things change so should your professional and personal action plan.

The biggest time wasting activities are due to lack of your own personal organization. Good organizational skills rely on having clearly defined priorities. Time management also requires the use of self discipline. Self discipline is recognizing your limits and knowing when to say no and not feel bad about it. Remember your priorities need to come first and not worry about pleasing everyone in your professional and personal life.

Stress can interfere at any time with time management. If you are having a high dose of stress in either you professional or personal life, or sometimes in both areas, look for what the source of the stress is and come up with a plan to reduce the stress. If you do not get the stress to at least a manageable level, your time management strategies will fall apart. If you can develop goals, perform a personal time analysis, make a list of priorities in both your personal and professional life, and eliminate time wasting activities, you can learn to develop and manage the time management strategies you have identified for yourself.
